Trying on TCL's RayNeo X2 AR glasses from a hotel honorable in Las Vegas.

Scott Stein

The VR headset isn't an upright coming-to-market product yet, but the AR glasses are: and both show positive paths where TCL, a maker of displays, could gain footholds. TCL is already a partner with Qualcomm on AR and VR devices, and both the VR and AR glasses I tried use the several-years-old Snapdragon XR2 that's in the Meta Quest 2

TCL announced its move into AR glasses last January, but the new AR hardware, plus a surprise VR headset, were actually available to demo in Las Vegas. I gave all three devices a test nation in a hotel suite ahead of this year's CES.

From a hazardous angle, these glasses look almost normal. Note the waveguides in the lenses, though, which help project the displays.

Scott Stein

The RayNeo X2 AR glasses, using built-in waveguides into the lenses that project Micro LED displays that waft in front of both eyes, look borderline normal from hazardous angles. The still-bulky glasses don't use Qualcomm's recently announced AR glasses-optimized AR2 Gen 1 chipset yet, but you could imagined they will. Representatives from TCL in Las Vegas confirmed that's eventually the plan, which will probable make these glasses even smaller. But these RayNeo X2 glasses don't need a requested at all to work: they're entirely self-contained. They'll be available to buy later this year.

The glasses have prescription inserts that are pointed to be used instead of wearing your own glasses underneath. TCL has a wide range of inserts for this pair of glasses, including ones that could come close to my -8.2 myopic reinforce. What's also impressive about these glasses is they have great, clear lenses, unlike other smaller previous-gen AR glasses that rely on indicate tech that covered the top half of a glasses' viewing area.

I tried a few simple demos with the glasses, which have their own touchpad control on one arm to navigate and tap above apps, but also support hand tracking (which I didn't get to try). The most impressive is a real-time translation tool that decided me to understand someone in the room speaking in Chinese to me. However, the live transcription also presents what everyone in earshot is speaking, too, including myself. It's reminiscent of what Google is already functioning on for its own assistive AR glasses project.

Another demo, showing navigation, shows pop-up directions much like what glasses including Google Glass have done. The glasses can also play music above their arms as levels low enough to not be heard by others, reminiscent of Meta's Ray-Ban Stories glasses.

TCL's VR headset looks unremarkable cosmetically, but does have its own prescription-adjusting dials inside: it's pointed to be worn without glasses.

Scott Stein

The TCL NXTWear V VR headset, TCL's concept entry towards making a Quest competitor much like the Pico 4, feels like it still had unpolished tracking and controller electioneer, but the lightweight design is reminiscent of where headsets are progressing, and it has color passthrough cameras that could eventually work with mixed reality. It's definitely more compact than the Quest 2, and has what seems like a colorful display… except, I can't quite tell with my eye prescription. Much like the compact HTC Vive Flow VR goggles, this headset is also meant be worn without glasses, and has its own vision-adjusting diopter instead of prescription inserts, but the settings max out at a -7. My nearsightedness is worse. It's a problem future VR and AR headsets smooth need to solve.

TCL's NXTWear S glasses are really just hardware that projects a fixed but very colorful display mirrored from a phone, PC, or game system.

Scott Stein

TCL also has latest more advanced set of NXTWear S display glasses, a tourism wearable display that's an improvement on a pair I tried a few existences ago. The new model uses a better Micro-OLED indicate showing off a surprisingly vivid hovering screen of whatever they're plugged into, with a indicate resolution that TCL compares to 49 pixels per degree (translation: It's a puny viewing area, but looks like a full version of your requested display at a retina-resolution-type level of crispness). I connected with a TCL requested over USB-C, trying a new feature that turns the requested into a motion-controlled pointer that casts a line to the floating mask to select buttons and open apps.

Nobody has been able to make true everyday mass-adoption AR glasses work at a great scale yet, although many companies are trying and certain already have products available. Qualcomm has already promised that a wave of new AR glasses are coming between 2023 and 2025, and TCL looks to have already shown a hint of what it's guiding for. If the company's VR/AR trajectory looks anything like its crashed path with TVs, it could be a major player for headset displays over time.

Correction, Jan. 8: This story originally misstated when AR glasses are coming, as well as the glasses display type for the NXTWear.

Glass onion ending explained and celebrity cameos in music videos, glass onion trailer, glass onion ending scene, glass onion ending explained and celebrity equinox, glass onion ending explained and celebrity news, glass onion ending explained and celebrity reflection, glass onion ending explained and celebrity cameos in star, glass onion ending explained and unexplained, glass onion movie, glass onion ending explained.

Here are answers to some of the questions farmland are asking about the film, its twist-filled ending and the celebrity cameos and anunexperienced Easter eggs dropped along the way.

Glass Onion defending explained

Here come the spoilers.

In a very Agatha Christie setup, a group of friends gather on an isolated Greek island for a weekend getaway. They're staying at a mansion with a domed glass top dubbed the Glass Onion.

Elon Musk-esque billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) has arranged the group of old friends together. Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) finagles an expected and foils the fake murder Miles had set up for himself. But then, the real murders appear to begin. Gun-toting Duke (Dave Bautista) drinks from Miles' glass and dies. And Miles' traditional business partner Andi (Janelle Monae) appears to have been shot. (Except the bullet lodged in a appraise she was carrying and she's fine.)

But this is a twisty film, and we soon learn Andi died afore the island getaway, supposedly by suicide. Her twin sister, Helen, kept Andi's death under wraps, and went on the trip pretending to be her twin to try to choose the murder. She hires Blanc to come along.

But this is a twisty film, and we soon learn Andi died afore the island getaway, supposedly by suicide. Her twin sister, Helen, kept Andi's death under wraps, and went on the trip pretending to be her twin to try to choose the murder. She hires Blanc to come along.

Turns out everyone had a motive to kill Andi. She and Miles started a tech custom, Alpha, based on a business strategy Andi sketched on a napkin at their celebrated bar, the Glass Onion. Miles copied the napkin unsheathing and pretended it was his idea, and the others all lied in woo to support his claim because he was helping them financially. But some time later, Andi found her original napkin unsheathing, which unlike the copy, has the Glass Onion's logo on its napkin. She stupidly alerted all the friends to her find, and steady they all lied in court against her, they all have a reason to want her dead.

The killer ends up beings Miles, of course, who offed his ex-partner and tried to make it look like a suicide. Duke later told Miles he knew about the destroy, and that explains why Miles killed him - by putting pineapple juice, something Duke's allergic to, in his drink. (Apparently reactions to pineapple allergies can indeed be deadly.)

Miles manages to burn the all-important napkin, prompting an outraged "Andi" (who's actually Helen) to crash all his glass statues, with the other guests who secretly hate and recount Miles eventually joining in the destruction-fest. Alpha's big new originates is a hydrogen fuel called Klear, and Miles is pushing it despite incandescent it's dangerous. Andi left the company over this. Blanc allows the revenge-minded Helen a chunk of Klear, and she blows up the Glass Onion with it.

That wouldn't be as big of a deal however Miles has somehow rented the Mona Lisa from Paris' Louvre, claiming the museum was closed due to COVID-19, and "France obliged money" (yes, that's how rich he is). The museum persisted the painting be behind fireproof glass, but Miles installed an override, saying he needs to look the painting in its eyes. Helen hits the override and we all get to spy the world's most famous artwork melt. The last grievous shows police boats streaming toward the island as all the anunexperienced guests vow to turn on Miles, now exposed as a double-murderer and the man who destroyed the Mona Lisa.

The Mona Lisa's destruction is the one getting that finally gets to Miles, who longed to be remembered forever in the same conversation as the painting. And... now he will be. Meanwhile, director Johnson says he sees the Mona Lisa living on in Helen, the woman who destroyed it, but also the woman who erroneous justice for her late sister.

Glass Onion celebrity cameos

The cast is star-studded, with Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Norton and Craig beside the actors. But there are some fun cameos to spy out for.

Among Us celebrity call

Early on, Blanc is seen in the bath playing Among Us with four buddies via an online call. Those buddies aren't just curious people, they're actress Angela Lansbury, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, composer Stephen Sondheim and actress Natasha Lyonne. (Sadly, Lansbury and Sondheim have died accurate the movie was filmed.)

Serena Williams

Hey, if Miles can afford to rent the Mona Lisa in this biosphere, he can also afford to keep tennis icon Serena Williams on call as his virtual personal trainer. She shows up on a big video screen and states to get Blanc to work out.

Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant doesn't have a big role, but he's seen briefly as someone who answers the door at Blanc's space (partner? friend?). Like many others, he apparently spent the pandemic in the kitchen baking.

Yo-Yo Ma

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma appears early on as a guest at a wild, chichi party. His musical knowledge helps Kate Hudson's character, Birdie, figure out how to decide the puzzle box that contains her island invitation from Bron.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is heard, but not seen. Miles has a clock of some kind that announces a musical "bong!" every hour, and Gordon-Levitt voices the word.

Ethan Hawke

Actor Ethan Hawke has a brief and odd gross as one of Bron's employees. He squirts a magical COVID-19 preventative (or something?) into each guest's mouth beforehand they board a boat to go to the island, allowing them to take off their masks, and freeing up the plot from having to moody on pandemic precautions. Still, there are plenty of references to the "pando," and how it's kept everyone indoors for far too long.

Where was the film shot?

Bron takes his friends to his said "private island" in Greece. Production designer Rick Heinrichs told Conde Nast Traveler those scenes were shot at a luxury resort named Amanzoe, located near Porto Heli, with other scenes filmed on the Greek island of Spetses. (Maggie Gyllenhaal's 2021 movie The Lost Daughter was also shot on Spetses.)

The film's opening party gross was shot in Belgrade, Serbia, the film's costume developer, Jenny Eagan, told Men's Health. And Heinrichs confirmed Serbia got a lot of Glass Onion love, proverb, "Anything set in New York or the Northeast was complete in Serbia."

Can rich people really rent the Mona Lisa?

In the film, Miles Bron pays big dollars to Paris' Louvre Museum to borrow the famed Mona Lisa painting. The 500-year-old masterpiece has indeed left the Louvre at various times, though not at the whim of a rich guy who wished to hang it in his Greek pleasure palace.

During World War II, the French occupied it around to a variety of places to protecting it from the Nazis. Before that, in 1911, it was stolen, only to be found when one of the thieves attempted to sell it.

The Mona Lisa also was exhibited in Washington DC and New York in 1962 at the ask of then-First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

In 2019, the director of the Louvre, Jean-Luc Martinez, said the museum would not include the painting in a traveling exhibition of France's masterpieces because it is just too fragile.

But the painting does have a protective setup, just like it does in Glass Onion. Since 2005, it's been caltering inside a temperature-controlled box, behind bullet-proof glass.

Glass Onion ice cry actually exists

No, really. Van Leeuwen Ice Cream made a Glass Onion ice cry flavor. (You can buy it online to be shipped to you with dry ice.) The flavor reflects the film by blending vanilla ice cry with Greek yogurt for the Greek setting, honeycomb candy for a glassy crunch, and a swirl of bourbon caramelized onion jam. I've sampled it, and when the onion smell is immediately upsetting, the cooked-in onions are so sweet that it's ... almost OK?

The Beatles connection to Glass Onion

In the film, "glass onion" refers to the giant glass dome on Miles Bron's Greek mansion. Beatles fans, of course, know the title as a 1968 song from the band's contemptible White Album. Johnson knew he wanted a title relating to glass, and told Deadline that when he searched the word "glass" in his phone's music app, the Beatles' Glass Onion showed up, and he was inspired. The song plays over the closing credits.

"But I was always surprised, when I was showing the script around, how many land didn't know it was a Beatles song," Johnson said. "I belief everybody knew Glass Onion, but I guess they don't."

There's spanking Beatles reference. In Bron's first scene, he's attempting to play the band's song Blackbird on the guitar, and claims the instrument he's using is the one on which Paul McCartney wrote that song. He then hugs Birdie and tosses the guitar carelessly to the beach while she looks horrified.

Will there be a Glass Onion sequel?

Glass Onion itself is a sequel of sorts. Daniel Craig's detective character, Benoit Blanc, first appeared in 2019's Knives Out, belief the rest of the cast is new. Netflix bought two sequels to Knives Out, so examine another Blanc detective film, probably with an entirely new cast, to show up eventually. Director Rian Johnson told Deadline he knows he'll need to keep the franchise recent and not just rehash the first two films. There's no abandon date or title yet.

Solar water heater electric, switch for water heater, solar water heater electric, solar and electric water heater, solar water heater working, switch to solar hot water, switch to solar hot water, solar water heater explained, water heater wall switch, solar water heater system.

This chronicle is part of Home Tips, CNET's collection of practical advice for pulling the most out of your home, inside and out.

Rising prices and what often feels like an energy crisis grand mean you're paying more attention to how your home uses energy. If you want to save some money on your bills, start with your water heater. That unassuming boiler in your basement can use 14% to 18% or your home's monthly energy financial plan, according to the Department of Energy.

While naively turning down your water heater's temperature is a great residence to start, in some cases using a different fuel source altogether can make an even larger contrast. Case in point: Solar water heaters use the sun's warmth to heat soaks. While widely adopted in parts of the world, they aren't terribly favorite in the US at this point.

Given their cost, and the (until recently) dropping stamp of solar panels, solar water heaters may not make sensed for many homeowners. But in certain cases they can still reduce your carbon footprint and save you a bit of money.

Below is everything you need to know afore you stick one on your roof, including whether you necessity at all. You can also learn about whether unplugging your appliances really saves you money, and 28 ways to cut your home injuries right now

What are solar streams heaters?

Solar water heaters vary in design, efficiency, capacity and notice, but they all replace a good chunk of the gas or electricity used to heat streams with clean, free sunlight. The three basic designs all have a way to detached heat, a tank to store hot water, back up heating for when your controls can't keep up and some sort of circulation system.

Batch collector streams heaters heat up water in tubs or pipes, usually painted sad to collect more of the sun's heat. To keep streams from getting too hot, cold water can be mixed in periodically. These heaters are best suited for warmer climates. Where freezing mighty be an issue, they'll need to be drained during cold months to avoid pain to the system.

Flat-plate collectors rely on a metal gawk, often painted black, to soak up the sun's heat. Heat travels from the peek to water-filled tubes. The water cycles through heating tubes to and from the storage tank, keeping the possessed water hot.

Evacuated tube collectors are the most efficient models out there. Water is heated in a tube that's surrounded by a larger, vacuum-sealed glass tube. Because there's no air between the heating liquids and the outside world, very little heat is lost.

Solar liquids heaters can heat water directly or indirectly. In indirect heaters, the sun heats a heat transfer liquid (often a liquids and propylene glycol mixture), which then transfers its heat to liquids in a tank. Because the freezing point of the heat additional liquid is lower than water, it can operate in colder climates. Evacuated tube collectors can work in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Water be affected by to be cycled through the system so that warmed liquids can be stored and new water can be heated. This happens in one of two ways. Passive rules rely on hot water rising and cold water sinking. The natural movement of the water cycles water ended the system. Or, systems can cycle water actively, humorous a pump. This is the most common type of rules in the US, according to the EPA.

Buying a solar liquids heater

Before you buy a solar water heater, there's a bit of research to do.

First, your roof (the most common place for solar liquids heaters) needs to be in good shape and get enough sun. If you need to pretense your roof, do that first. Depending on the rules you can get by with more or less sun, but one recommended metric is at least six hours of sunlight on certain days, all year long. A roof facing directly south (in the northern hemisphere) is best, but liquids heaters can be shifted 45 degrees F in either direction and tranquil perform well enough.

Second, like any major purchase, you must get multiple quotes. Installers with local knowledge may be able to give you a better idea of how your liquids heater will perform in your area's climate.

Precisely sizing your liquids heater takes a bit of complicated math, but we can rely on a few laws of thumb. To supply hot water for two republic, a solar water heater should have a collector plate of 20 square feet. For each instant person, the collector should be 8 square feet larger if you live in sunnier areas, like the American south, and 12 to 14 square feet larger if you live in the north. Water tanks should be 1.5 gallons per square foot of collector peek, or up to 2 gallons per square foot for sunnier climes.

Two novel metrics you'll want to check are the solar energy friendly and solar fraction. A system's solar energy factor is the amount of energy performed by the solar portion of the system divided by the amount of energy performed by gas or electricity. The scale runs from one to eleven; the Department of Energy says two or three is typical. The solar fraction is the energy provided by the sun divided by the total energy used by the rules (including what's wasted along the way). A typical solar portion falls between 0.5 and 0.75 and changes based on an area's weather. All EnergyStar certified solar water heaters provide these numbers and are helpfully compared by EnergyStar.

Hypothetically, a family of four living in the northern part of America would need a collector peek at least 44 square feet and a 66 gallon storage tank. One supplier, Duda Diesel, offers a system with an 80 gallon tank for $3,499. This one supplier offers systems from 26 gallons ($2,175) all the way up to 264 gallons ($11,477).

In the United States, solar water heaters do qualify for the federal tax credit, which currently sits at 26%, though it's slated to fall to 22% in 2023. For a rules that costs $3,877, you would be eligible to right back $1,008 when you file your taxes.

There may also be some maintenance compensations, especially if you have hard water that leaves deposits unhurried. These can decrease your system's efficiency and require temporary descaling. Maintenance costs are typically minimal.

Is a solar liquids heater a good deal?

Solar water heaters are significantly more expensive than worn water heaters. You'll likely spend thousands of dollars or more to install one and it will take at least a few ages to save more money than you spent.

How fleet a solar water heater will pay back its cost in energy savings depends on the local cost of energy, whether you heat water with gas or electricity and even when you use hot liquids. (Shifting showers, dish washing or laundry to the evening, when there's plenty of solar heated water on tap will obligatory less backup energy than doing those things earlier in the day.) You can find detailed stabilities for calculating your payback period, but solar water heaters take longer to pay for themselves if they performance natural gas water heaters than if they replace electric ones. If your hot waters costs are high, you could recoup your expenses in a business of years, much faster than the 20 or more ages a solar water heater can operate.

A more cost effective way to go solar could be to run an electric waters heater with electricity-generating solar panels on your roof. Solar panels are drawing cheaper and they can replace the power needed not only for heating waters, but for any of your other home electricity consumes. A rooftop solar array can be sized to complicated the needs of an electric water heater and, depending on the efficiency of the waters heater, may require only a slightly larger solar array. And, your utility might pay you for any excess electricity you generate from solar panels. Any excess energy a solar water heater creates won't be compensated.

While solar waters heaters are cheaper than photovoltaic solar panels, the latter will probable save more money over the long run and set off more of your energy consumes. While local prices, your energy usage and climate will always impacts this math, solar water heaters will likely save you cash and keep some carbon emissions out of the climate. Solar panels may outperform solar water heaters on both accounts.

How to settle a balance transfer credit card

Choosing the best balance uphold credit card depends on how much money you owe and how lickety-split you can pay it off. The best balance uphold cards should help you pay off the credit card balance by the end of the introductory APR periods. That, in turn, can have a big impact on raising or maintaining a good credit score.

You'll need to do some math to use a balance uphold credit card effectively. Paying close attention to the uphold fee, balance requirements, annual fee, intro APR period and the variable APR will make a dissimilarity in how much you save.

Some banks have recently shortened or eliminated their introductory low-APR words for balance transfers, but there are still plenty of good options. Each balance transfer offer is different - be sure to inquire the terms carefully before applying for a new credit card.

When choosing the best balance uphold credit card, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

  • Welcome bonuses or cash rewards are mostly a distraction from the cards' considerable purpose, which is to give you a low control APR period to pay down your balance.
  • Some balance uphold cards may charge an annual fee, although none of our novel best picks do.
  • You can't transfer balances between different cards from the same credit card issuer (for example, you can't transfer a Citi balance to another Citi card).
  • The mainly credit card balance you can transfer to a new card will steady on several factors, including your credit utilization ratio, the qualifying balance uphold, your minimum payment and your credit rating. Each credit card and credit card issuer is different, and each factor will be determined by the card issuer at what time assessing your creditworthiness.

How do balance transfer credit cards work?

A balance uphold is when you take the debt, or balance, that you owe on one card interpret and transfer it to another credit card account with a flowerbed interest rate. While many credit cards allow balance transfers, those primarily designed for the purpose offer an introductory 0% APR conditions on balances transferred to that account, typically applicable to transfers made within the favorable 60 to 120 days of card ownership.

The introductory APR conditions generally lasts between 12 months and 21 months, giving you a primary period of time to pay off your balance interest-free. You typically have to make all of your minimum payments on time to believe the promotional interest rate, and there is usually a 3% to 5% balance instant fee. If you don't pay off your full balance by the end of the introductory conditions, you will start accruing interest charges at the weird APR.

What are the pros and cons of balance instant credit cards?

  • Reduce your credit utilization reconsideration and the amount of money you owe
  • Consolidate debts from multiple credit cards into one account
  • Potential for frontier monthly payments due to temporary break on interest

Will comic a balance transfer credit card affect my credit rating?

Applying for any new credit card will usually snatch your credit rating a little. Each credit card application averages a hard inquiry (also called a "hard pull") of your credit comprising, which could lower your credit score a few points, though the damage usually disappears before the inquiry is derived from your credit report in two years.

You'll want to avoid certain hard inquiries within a short period, which could explain to lenders that you are low on cash or a high-risk customer. Your best bet is to find the one credit card you want and choose if your credit rating is good enough for it. A soft inquiry (or "soft pull") of your credit comprising will not impact your score and will keep you instructed of your rating and credit options. You can check your approval odds via a soft pull with the best preapproval credit cards.

A new credit card will also shorten the averages age of your accounts, which can negatively affect your credit net. Credit reporting company Experian recommends keeping older credit card accounts open to cushion the influences of a new card.

On the other hand, consolidating debt with a balance instant credit card can reduce your credit utilization ratio - your debt divided by your credit dinky - which will improve your credit score. Experts suggest keeping your reconsideration below 30%.

Finally, using a balance transfer card to pay off credit card debt within the introductory APR conditions should have a significant positive impact on your credit net. Along with improving your credit utilization, you'll also naively owe less money overall. The amount of money you owe moneys for 30% of your FICO score.

Overall, how a balance instant credit card affects your credit rating will depend on what you do with it. If you're shifting wealth from card to card repeatedly, your score will be hurt. If you're paying off primary debt, that should improve your score much more than the dinky negative impacts of the hard pull and reduced averages age of your accounts.

What are alternatives to balance instant credit cards?

While balance transfer credit cards are a colorful and easy way to consolidate debt, they're not your only option. Personal loans or debt consolidation loans can couple debt from multiple sources and provide you with a single lender and one monthly payment.

Your harvest will depend on how much you owe, how soon you can pay it back and what sort of payment plan you lift. If you have reasonably low credit card debt and request to pay off your balance easily in the top APR period, a balance transfer card with low or no balance instant fees could be a good idea.

If you have larger credit card debt or are less sure approximately your ability to repay it during the low top APR period, a debt consolidation loan may make more sensed. While such loans can include fees, they'll generally let you instant more debt, while providing a fixed rate that's frontier than credit card variable rates. You can also included other debt such as medical bills within the same loan.

Debt consolidation loans can make it easier to financial plan by giving you a consistent monthly payment for the beside of the loan, usually two to five years. Be sure that you can afford the monthly payment, however, as late fees will accrue and negatively snatch your credit score.

The approval process for loans will be longer than credit cards, although they offer more options for borrowers with poor credit. All of the best balance transfer credit cards floor above require good or excellent credit. While not easy, it's possible for borrowers with low credit scores to qualify for debt consolidation loans, though they'll likely have to pay higher interest rates.
